I've seen some posts regarding turbo and super charging. Without doing other modifications to the car, which system is the easiest to plug and play on a LB with Automatic? Also concerned about engine wear and tear along with the ability to sustain high gas milage when driving frugally.

Well i mean more stable... the blitz supercharger by far, not ez plug n play though, and also doesn't have the highest HP Gain.

You have to search for a working turbo kit, or order a working one from japan or some other place and still have to put it together. And you should have IHE combo already installed on your car. Much more HP gains of course but not so much reliability.

As far as gas mileage, as long as you are driving normal... below 3.5k rpm then you will still have the same gas mileage.

No, The Blitz makes @ 140HP 5spd/130HP automatic, from what I've read. The Mini S has @ 180HP, maybe more depending on year. I am having my motor rebuilt with lower compression forged pistons and stronger piston rods along with a Rotrex supercharger, since I cracked a piston w/ stock internals with the Rotrex on my Yaris. Those Mini S cars are pretty impressive and a blast to drive. 1 up side is the Yaris weighs less than newer Minis.

If you are quoting that 140whp from me, then that's not just the blitz supercharger. I have I/H/E; and by exhaust, i have a headerback 2.25" exhaust setup. I also have a custom made overdrive crank pulley that is giving 140 TQ and 136 whp; however, I did make the 140whp without the overdrive pulley. But I credit that to my exhaust setup.

Most blitz kits, even with I/H/E, make around 130whp from what I've seen on a 5 speed.

Also, from what I remember, the automatic doesn't hit 130whp. It's less than that. You can refer to Noogie's dyno in the dynothread. That is with I/H/E, i believe.

the supercharger is a 6-10 hour job depending on skill with wiring and reading directions.

custom exhaust would be $300-400.
intake $170
header $279
lite pulley $112

The supercharger is the only complete bolt-on boost kit we have for the Yaris so far. A turbo is a "project", with some custom work and tuning necessary.

You forgot the supercharger itself Garm =)

Supercharger $3400

3400 + 300 + 170 + 279 + 112 + 8 hours @ $90 an hour = $4981

The base model Mini has 118 hp. Do I need a super or turbo charger to beat that?

Depends on the driver.

You can get a 1zz throttle body w/ chip swap fairly cheap, short ram or cold air intake, DC header, NST pulleys, axle back exhaust and gain modest improvements in HP maybe 10 HP or a little more. You can also install a performance oriented ECU in place of the stock fuel efficiency one, which should give more HP gains. Maybe even higher compression pistons if you can find them & port polish.

The cheapest way however is weight reduction. Gut the interior, lighter wheels, lighter springs, etc. Every little bit adds up. I wonder how much the side and rear windows weigh lol!

If expense is a concern just do 1 mod at a time, most are fairly simple to do if you have basic mechanical knowledge besides a new ECU and taking the engine apart. Just a new air intake alone makes a cool gnarly sound while flooring it. The basic mods (1zz TB, air intake, header, axleback exhaust) work in conjunction with one another and will give you @ 10% more HP.
