I am supposed to receive the first 5 production PCB sets this week. If all is well with them I will let them cut the first production run (100 PCB sets). In the meantime I am working on wrapping up the firmware. I figured out how to get the cluster to tell me the raw reading of the fuel level sender, so the numeric fuel level / range until empty won't require a wire to be tapped. I am now working on getting the ECM to give up the air to fuel ratio.

Scott, that left side vent mount will be perfect for me, especially in that orange RS glow with black backing...just installed RS trim pieces and a/c heater control knobs as well so black on black match.

My understanding is that he can read memory addresses but would need the machine code to write to the ECM. Reverse engineering the machine code is problematic, and Toyota doesn't share it.

Have I got that right?

That's correct.

I am making a bit more progress with being able to write to the ECM, for example I figured out the CAN message to make the ECM turn on/off the radiator fan at will.

For the question above about the AFR - The Yaris' O2 sensors are wide band zirconia sensors.

In the Engineering world we call it "feature creep". Marketing people love it (not) when we Engineers keep wanting to add just "one more little thing" before release...

The best way to eliminate feature creep would be if the YarGauge were updatable via a serial connection... That would basically allow you to ship now and add features later on.

Then again, that would raise the final price for sure. Which I wouldn't mind doing BTW.

The tricky part to that is that it consists of two separate processors, each of which requires a different interface for programming.

Well I am sure if you ever get to a point where you can do fuel maps, you will have a lot of people interested.

Just curious, what do you do? Electrical engineer?
Oil pressure is a funny one - The Yaris simply has a pressure switch that is on if there is oil pressure or off if you don't.

I am an Electrical Engineer,

I can't wait for version 2 that will have a 4x25 character display and it's own plastic case.

OK wishful thinking... I just want it to match my V2 ECUTalk

I am loving this project but I don't want it to mount in my AC vent or DIN slot.
