hmm, I'm skeptical but they're slightly sexier with the tech talk to back it up (At least from Alpine)
170 shipped each on ebay isnt too bad but I wanna see real world differences and results before I buy 3 new ones and a 2000 watt amp to match the new specs.

Can't be that much difference in sound quality. The new ones are a little more shallow, and can handle a little more power. ( 100 more watts RMS ) I still like last years model Type-R subs. My little 10" Type-R sounds great. I enjoy it more everytime I listen to it. It's not overpowering, it sits nice in the mix. Good strong bass. I'm glad I didn't get two of them. One gets the job done. If I didn't already have my Type-R sub, I would get one of the new ones.

thats cool that they are using, or came up with a new linear motor technology, and even added Dumax Charts for the Bl curve & Kms. However, that new motor doesn't really stay linear that long. It was flat for the first half of the x-max value (first 10mm)... then went to a normal Bl curve... and then eventually craped out at 17mm.
All in all, it should be a good sounding sub. Probably one of the lowest distortion subs that retails for under $200. I haven't looked at the T/S specs yet... hopefully this thing isn't running a crazy high Qts value which would make it a large box woofer like the W7 or all the LMS motor woofers. you can get 8% off with Bing on ebay. so $119.60 shipped.
I may have to get me one of these bad boys, waited long enough. Need a new amp and box tho. The one thing i hate about buying subs, need to make a box and i dont have the technical know how.

Is there any way to mount this beauty in the sides of the car, to keep all the space for cargo?

Guys, please don't rule out your local stereo shop. They CAN match or beat those prices. I know I can. And if you blow it up you can take it back and swap it out on the spot.

They are CHEAP, and most have free shipping, too. I bought a ported box for my Type-R, and it is very NICE. $30 with free shipping. You can't beat it. No need to worry about making your own box. SonicElectronix has some nice AMPS for cheap too. 500watt RMS class D monoblocks for around $130. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...se+XA1200.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...KAC-8105D.html

It would take some fabrication work to properly mount and seal them in. ( and make them look halfway decent back there ) I just went with a single 10" in a ported box. If I needed the cargo space, I can just unhook the speaker wires, and easily remove the box. My box takes up half my cargo space in the rear hatch area. So far, I haven't needed to remove my sub for any reason, but I don't haul anything big with my Yaris. I use my GMC truck if I need to haul big stuff. My Yaris is just a city car.
