Help: Water/Moisture Entered Fog Light Assembly
I noticed one of my fog lights was out this evening and when I looked at the fog light, I noticed moisture inside the lens assembly.
Is the fog light assembly toast now, or is it isolated to just the bulb? And how would I go about repairing the immediate problem? I was thinking of using a hair dryer or heat gun to dry out the moisture inside the assembly before connecting a new bulb. Help please

Well I got a little antsy and decided to check it out myself.
Seems like some water got into the housing via the hose/shield around the fog light wire harness and its shorted the bulb. Connected a spare H11 bulb after drying the assembly and the wiring harness and it worked fine. I'm a little surprised that the fog lights are not covered by a rubber boot to prevent water from entering. I'll see if I can make a boot for the fog light to prevent this from happening again!

I think I know how water and moisture entered the fog light assembly.
It was snowing for a few days in Vancouver last month and when most if it melted away, my car was filthy. I took it to an automated car wash and before the main wash began, there was an undercar wash/spray which probably shot some water into the fog light assembly. Maybe it's time for that C-ONE aluminum under panel

I fixed the problem myself and didn't have to bring it back to the dealer.
Just have to find some material to make a boot for the fog lamp as it's completely exposed to the elements... How boot you help me out there etimago?

You might try putting one of those silicone dessicant packs in each lamp if there's room and sealing around the wires with silicone.

tip: If you don't want to have it looking all blobby when you're done, coat your fingers with a very strong soap-water mixture and smooth the silicone by hand.
