Ceramic Coating the Exhaust

Hi guys, I was unsure were to begin this thread so since ceramic coating the exhaust eliminates the exessive heat into the engine bay it compliments in increasing power and efficiency.

Witihin the last 2 months I am was making some trials with a Ceramic Pottery Glazing Company on stainless steel work to finally try it out with my exhaust mainfold. We cut in pieces a pipe of stainless steel and tried with the coating. We tried coating the metal with liquid and pasty forms of ceramic and heated up to 945 Degrees and the coating had no success to uniformly match the metal.

I have my hands tied up and I don't have any other clues to try out so I bet my last into this forum maybe some of you can help me out.

If these results gain no success I am willing to send the mainfold abroad so if any you have any links to a specialised ceramic coating company in Europe please post it in.

Ceramic coating is really good.... but shipping the manifold to the US? don't think so....

Why don't you stick with some ol fashion thermal wrap?

Won't look as nice... but at the end it will do the same job...

I won't ship it to US, I found a company called Zircotec http://www.zircotec.com/page/home/1 that seems quite serious and specialized in the area. Although like you said thermal wrapping is an alternative solution for this, and maybe I seem mad but if ceramic isn't enough to cool the exhaust I am ready to thermal wrap it aswell!

wraps are crap. lets see...holds moisture for one...i had a friend with them on his car for 2 years and the headers rotted through...completely. you could stick a screwdriver in almost all of it where it was wrapped and even though rusted...the unwrapped part was still relatively solid.

any way...jet-hot is badA$$...as long as you dont nick it when installing or rock chips...whatever...you should be good for about 8 years.

oh, and dont forget to contact AFR for your fastener needs...stainless grade-8 bolts are awesome...look good in contrast to the semi-chrome metalic look of jethot
