Folding the Hatchback's Solid Rear Seat Down

I did a search on here, but with the hack earlier there are a lot of threads missing; so I thought I would start a new one.

I've got an 08 3-door Hatchback and was wondering if anyone figured out a way to fold the solid (i.e. non-60/40) rear seat down flatter? Mine juts up badly, and the fold-over shelf is pretty much useless. I see where the 60/40 split seats slide and lay pretty much flat; but am I SOL since I have the cheaper, solid rear seat?

Cheers! M2

I guess if you want it down long-term this would be fine, but for everyday fold up and down you will have to live with it.

And I totally agree that the fold over shelf is worthless on the non-split rear seat...

Is it just a matter of pulling the seatbelts out? I looked at that, and there seemed to be something holding the bottom foam in...

Cheers! M2

I'm probably going to make my self look really stupid here, but what is the fold over shelf?

Here is a photo in the back of mine. I have the 60/40 split seat, but I assume the fold over flaps are the same. If you have the cargo mat, take it out and the flaps are underneath. You have to lift up pretty hard the first few times to get them out of the grooves.

Ahhh...I have the solid back seat and the powered sub installed in the cargo area that I would have to unbolt and remove in order to use the shelf. I didn't even know that was there though! Pretty nifty, I guess I should actually take a moment to read the owners manual some day huh?

With the solid seat I don't think the flaps would be of any use anyway. They would not lay flat because of the couple of inches the back of seat sticks up above floor level when laid down.

This was the whole reason I had to get the power package. Back had to be pretty level to put the dog crates in. Still don't get what power windows has to do with the folding seats, but whatever.
