To Rebadge or Not Rebadge?
This is the question...
I have a black 08 hatchback... ...and I have been toying with the idea of replacing the Toyota sombrero badge with a Netz/Vitz set. But I am not sure. My wife likes the sombrero emblems but I think the Netz badge looks like an Opel badge, therefore it is very European which appeals to me. Help convince me...pictures of black hatchbacks with the badges would support your argument! Cheers! M2 |

Changing the Toyota sombrero (front only) for the NETZ badge would be authentic JDM. However, many Vitz enthusiasts in Japan actually change the Netz badge for the Toyota badge... for two reasons: (1) some just like to make their cars look different; and (2) others think the NETZ badge, at a glance, looks like the Hyundai badge!
I thought about it for a long time and finally decided to leave the sombreros alone and just rebadge the hatch with the Vitz nameplate. |

I completely re-badged mine. Removed the front/rear Toyota "somberos" and replaced them with Netz; TRD and Vitz emblems on the corners. I have VVT-i on both front fenders directly below the marker lights.
Anything to confuse the people on the road. Will post pictures shortly. :)

I had my hatch naked for while, and it looked clean... and I rather liked it. But, it also made the car look like a repaint. Now that I've just got the Vitz badge on the left, it looks good, IMHO... and properly Japanese.

Yeah, debadging was also an option (it is pretty popular on higher-end cars in Germany, such as M-Bs and Audis, it's considered a status symbol not to have the badges on the car); but in looking at pics it makes it look a little too bare for my tastes.
The other thing is that the car will still have a huge Toyota sombrero on the steering wheel, and I recently got the 09 bumper mat which has 'Yaris' written across it; so throwing on the Netz/Vitz badges will only cause a huge mismatch. But like Benggolf2, I like messing with people which is why the Netz/Vitz badges are appealing! Still, my wife said the same thing as kimona, that they look like Hyundai badges! Decisions, decisions... Cheers! M2 |

Actually, there is another black Yaris HB near where I live (Helotes, TX) with the sombreros blacked out and I didn't like it that much...

Stare deeeeeeeeeply into the emblems!
You will feel yourself drifting away.... Korea to Japan, Japan to Korea... and back. Lose yourself to the powers of the emblem as they become one. |

The VVT-1 emblems ended up on the front fenders right below the marker lights. Enjoy!
