Yaris diesel predetonation?
I run a Yaris diesel and wondered if anyone else had one (I'm in the UK). My problem is that the car always sounds like it has some level of predetonation or "pinking". The toyota dealer can find nothing wrong but the car is not right. At times power falls away inexplicably.
Has anyone had a simiolar problem and found the solution? |

Diesels are very different from gasoline. Detonation is caused by compression which the diesels rely on for combustion, no spark plugs. Diesels produce a lot of torque at low RPM and they are not high revving. The power will drop off after 3500 RPM? Most likely the injectors will cut off.
