I was planning on putting the tweeters in the pillars like a bunch of people on this site have done, but I don't have the tools to put a hole in the pillar. I also talked to a guy that works at a custom audio shop near my school and he said that that area would make them sound hollow, but I don't know how much he knows cause that spot seems to work well for other people.

My tweeters work great. Some sibilance loss with the windows open, but overall very good quality sound.

Yes, there are three grey pieces they all pull off.

Oh good. I didn't want to spend half an hour prying on them only to find they're glued/screwed/sonic'd together. I also found a pic of the door panels you were selling a while back that had the front 2 parts removed. Did you just bore a hole with a holesaw to install yours?

Try different aiming positions, if you are not running active x-overs some times it's better to keep the tweeters within 12 inches from the center of the main speaker (midbass).
This keeps the separation of female and male vocals. D.

@ patrickjohnson -- all JBL components, those are about 5 years old now, don't recall the exact model.

^You mean like that? I'm thinking your guys is saying that the way you're mounting the tweeters might make it sound like the backwave would be sent through the tube. Now...let's take bets on whether your speaker is sealed or not! Take a pic of the back of the tweeter for us. To add to what Derick is saying about speaker location...IF you don't have phasing control or true time alignment. Cause changing the time alignment has a direct correlation with your phase. It's an interesting experiment, setting T/A on one set of speakers at a time.
