Feeler: Brembo Max brake rotors
Hey guys, just to get an idea, I have a friend who is looking into compatible Brembo brakes for our cars, Brembo has a new "Max" budget line, which is far more affordable, so we'd like to know if anybody would be interested?
They'd be just replacements for the OEM ones, so you could still use the stock calipers, but the discs are slotted for better performance. He's estimating he could sell them around $250 for a pair. Does this sound good to you, and would you be interested in a pair? Shipping should not be more than $100, probably even less if we can organize a group shipping. Comments, ideas and suggestions, please!

I'd be even more interested if they had nice looking calipers too.

Would it matter if your car is a 5dr LB or a 3dr LB?
Does it matter if it's a US model,Thai model, Japan model, or Euro model? Will possible squeeeeeeeks occur more frequently after swapping them? Past/Present owners that know please fill us with you knowledge! |

As far as the brakes go between 3dr or 5dr I have no idea. As far as the brakes squealing more, that has more to do with the pads and than the rotors. Here is what slotted rotors accually do......
"The concept behind slotted rotors is simple -- provide an escape route for pad heat, gasses and residue. As the brake pads clamp onto the rotor, the subsequent friction creates hot gasses and heat between pad and rotor face. The slotting allows the gas and heat to evacuate more quickly, prolonging pad and rotor life. It also averts the cushion-effect caused by that heat and gas between pad and rotor." I copied and pasted about the slotted rotors from this thread I found a while ago..... http://autos.aol.com/article/power/v...14181109990001 . I had slotted rotors on my 03 Mazdaspeed Protege with no ill effects. I did however put a nice coat of brake quiet on the back of the pads when I was changing them out. I hope this helps, Evan |

That's what my friend is trying to find out, they are advertised for the previous model Vitz, so does anyone know if the brakes are identical between generations?

also FYI, slotted rotors are not normally able to be resurfaced, so don't get these and use your pads past normal wear. Also, because pads lay down compound to to break in or "dress" the rotor surface, you will not be able to change composition of your pads when you replace them with slotted and/or drilled rotors.
This is info from my racing experience, and may be subject to argument of course.
