Does your yaris Engine and air box shake???

i've noticed that the air box shakes quite profusely when idle.....

it(the air box) at least vibrates 3cm up and down

the engines shakes too, and sounds loud

Yes, it shakes. More if you have the A/C running. From what I understand is:

1) Its small 4-banger and so they're know to be a bit shaky

2) It sits on gel motor mounts so that way it doesn't transfer the vibration to the cabin.

So, don't worry about it. If your steering wheel and shifter begin to shake while idling, then there would be a reason for some concern.

thanks so much bro, was bout to bring to the dealer. But no shaking of steering wheel and the automatic shifter when idling...but if i listen closely i can hear the loud tapping of the engine....that's kool too?

i did do a search, and they are some similar complaints. But when i saw the air box vibrating, i got worried.

Well there also is the case that Toyota's in general have valve chatter, its a normal thing. they just idle a bit louder than other cars out there.

The loud tapping of the engine, if we're talking about the same thing, is also normal. I have heard Corolla and Prius engines make the same valve chatter.

Lets put it like this, you REALLY gotta try hard to make a Toyota fail. I am talking running on LOW oil at 10,000 miles and the darn thing will still run. I had a 1994 Ford Escort with 267,000 miles on it and I still had to "baby" it just so it wouldn't need another trip to the mechanic. But my cousin, who has a 2003 Toyota Corolla, goes at least 3,000 miles over the maintenance schedule, has been in two accidents, didn't even know that the car requires power steering fluid, and the car still takes her to and from work without a hitch.
