DIY: Aux Input Jack Adapter
Saving this DIY from the Hack credit to IsLNdbOi
*SOLVED* Connecting stock aux jack to RCA cable. *SOLVED* I would like to be able to use my stock aux jack with my Alpine HU. I have the adapter for the Alpine so that I can connect an auxiliary source to it via RCA audio cables (red / white cables). I cut my stock aux jack and the end of the cable I had (3.5mm to RCA cable) and stripped the outer jacket. Here are pics.: See First Picture The end on the left is the 3.5mm to RCA cable (chopped off the 3.5mm plug) and the end on the right is the stock aux jack. The RCA cable has two black wires, a red wire and a blue wire. The stock aux jack has two red wires a gray wire and a green wire. To get the aux jack to work, do I simply solder these four wires together (the four wires from the aux jack to the corresponding wires on the RCA cable)? If so, anyone know which wire from the aux jack needs to be soldered to which wire from the RCA cable? I found this page in the Yaris service manual too: See Second Picture

Just wanted to add something. Finally got this done. The top red wire (on the stock aux jack's harness - the one on the right side) doesn't need to be connected to anything. Simply connect blue to green, the red to red and the black to gray.

You're kidding right? We've practically laid it out step-by-step.

I was about to do this on my '09 5-door LB, but the harness end that connects to the back of the aux jack (like the one on the right in my picture above) has a new type of connector. It's square now instead of rectangular and it has five wires (2x red, green, white, and gray).
Not sure what to do now. Anyone have an '07 / '08 aux jack and harness end that you can sell me? -- Edit -- Solution for the '09LB: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11849 Solution for the '07/'08LB: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...d.php?p=199347 Last edited by IsLNdbOi; 09-13-2009 at 05:54 AM. |

great info! its nice to know that i can use the AUX port in the future when my stock unit goes bad. this was probably the only reason I didnt want to get an aftermarket unit. thanks!

Recently, my AUX port stopped working - I assume this because when I tried several different AUX cables, my stock radio would rarely detect if there was a device in use and when it did, the slightest bump from the road would make the connection disappear. Anyways, I called Toyota to see how much the piece would cost and it was ~$125 for it. I was wondering if anyone had a part number for it (the guy who gave me the quote wouldn't tell me :( ). I've tried local junkyards, but none have any yaris in their yards.

I have an extra (never used) liftback one (part number 86190-52040) that I would sell for $50 shipped if you are interested.
