Is the Yaris engine a little rough?
I guess i'm used to larger smoother cars, my yaris has less than 3k miles on it and I can feel it vibrate through the steering wheel a little bit, even more so with the A/C on. When looking at the engine while running, it moves around quite a bit. I brought it in to my local toyota dealership and the mechanic looked at it and told me that these small engines just vibrate a good bit and not too worry. He told me that if something is wrong that the check engine light would come on. I guess i'm just used to the smoothness of my other car, caddy with a northstar V8. Does anyone else notice this also?

No mine feels great actually. No vibe at high speeds like that at all. Huh, that's funny.

I think generally its the nature of smaller engines. Also there isn't much padding between you and the engine so that contributes. I wouldn't think too much into but at the same time keep an eye on it I guess. Maybe it will be better once you put more miles on. Good luck!

May I say that it vibrates more at idle and when standing in drive, once driving it smooths out

I guess i'll get used to the idle, looks like motor trend noticed the same thing during their review of the yaris.

From what I've read on the forum here, it seems that the idle is set just above stall speed, helping fuel economy, but then again my 98 exploder I used to own vibrated quite a bit too, but that was attributed to the engine design, no slow idle there.

Yes, it jitters a bit. Worry not, you're getting the best MPG this side of a hybrid!

kindda vibrates when ac or heat is on, i think it's becauseof the small engine, it's annoying when you stop.
