If you do some searching, there is a thread that has the info. It is over $2000 in parts that have to be changed.

Ouch $2000. Guess I'll be content with turning the knob.

If you can source the parts used from Europe or Japan it can be done considerably cheaper (~$500). Echo_hrs purchased two sets of parts from the Yahoo Japan auctions, and sold me one of them. I figured out how to make it work on a USDM Yaris, and actually still owe him a plug and play harness to get his working.

Did you find out if all the parts on this list is nessesary? I live in Europe, and have a donor car to pick the parts from

Did you fit this in your car. Do you have picture of the fitting :-)

One more part that is missing from that list is the fan assembly. On the "automatic AC" cars, the fan has different circuitry for the speed control. We didn't realize this until after we had the parts in hand, so I had to build a circuit to convert our fan to work with the automatic controls.

Here's a picture of it up and running on the bench. I haven't installed it in my car yet.

Out of curiosity, are there other parts available on the donor car? I would like to get an ECM and an instrument cluster from a European Yaris for experimentation.

I was going to visit a wrecker outside of Paris, during a vacation last summer, but my wife wouldn't let me spend a day looking for car parts rather than seeing the sites.
