Just waxed etc my ' 09 Yaris...
Yes... I sill have my '09 Yaris :)
Yesterday I resprayed my stock wheels black as they were developing a bit of rust. I used Rust-Oleum semigloss black spray... after "sanding" off the rust and masking off the lug nuts. They came out great . :) Today I waxed it using Meguiars "Gold class - Carnuba Plus" I like this wax as it goes on and off easy and... it shines great . It was a perfect cool and partly overcast morning for waxing . For whatever reasons, the last time I waxed it or did any serious detailing was two years ago. Anyway, it's not looking bad for an '09 that was never garage kept. :) Last edited by RedRide; 06-09-2017 at 05:43 PM. Reason: spelling |

That color is amazing. One of my favorites for the Yaris.

Thanks guys.
BTW, I forget to mention that I also used the "Forever Black" (brand) tire dressing . It's a very thick black liquid that makes a tire look like new.....and not artificially shinny like those common silicone based tire dressings......that also basically wash off with the first washing. https://youtu.be/IReRPbRPQP4 BTW, when I went to my local Toyota dealer in '09, I wanted a 2D HB in carmine red....with a manual transmission . This was the only Carmine red HB and the only manual HB they had on the lot....and they have a very large lot with a large inventory . I struggled to maintain a poker face and attitude. I still have the stock fake mag wheel covers. They are still like new.
I took them off about 1 month after getting my yaris as I hate "fake" anything on a car. So, I went with this look. The center caps are from an old Tercel I think that it gives the Yaris a whole new, more aggressive personalty. Last edited by RedRide; 06-10-2017 at 11:31 PM. |

That looks fantastic! I really like the color, and it looks like you take good care of it.
I've got the same setup on my wheels, but I filled in the logos with white nail polish. It really makes them pop. You don't have to be too careful when painting them in; just wipe with acetone after it's had a chance to dry, and any mess will come off, while all the paint inside the logo emboss will stay there. It's one of two colors (the other is yellow) introduced in '09 for the hatchbacks, and dropped after '11. Both are extremely rare. I've only ever seen one or two of each in person. |

It can't be that people did not like it as the most frequent comment I get about my yaris is that they love the color. However, personally, I can understand why they discontinued yellow. I hate yellow on any car. Last edited by RedRide; 06-11-2017 at 03:32 PM. |

You're right, red car paint is very expensive. Black is generally the cheapest. But, the regular shade of red is one of the few colors still available on just about any car, including the Yaris. So, I don't think cost has anything to do with it.
2008 was the last year of good sales for the Yaris in the U.S.. Toyota sold more Yarii from 2006 to 2008 than they have from 2009 to the present day. That's part of the reason why those colors that appeared in '09 are so rare on the road. Plus, no one likes yellow, except me, apparently. |

BTW ... You can not notice it in my pic but my stock chrome lug nuts are starting to rust .
Seven New York winters finally got to them. So, I ordered new ones (e-Bay) which seem to be higher quality and are 'triple plated". Although they are not exact copies of the stock lugs, they do look just about the same. One issue is, they need a 3/4" socket instead of a 13/16" like the stock lugs do. So with knowledge that the stock lug wrench is about worthless.... If you you had to remove a tire with it due to a flat, you might not be able to remove the lug nuts with it I tried (out of curiosity) and i could not loosen any nuts with the stock lug wrench . Remember the "Big bang Theory" episode where they could not use a stock lug wrench either to change a flat away from home? It was funny on TBBT as good comedy must have a bit of realty to it.... but, what if that actually happened to you? So, today I went to Walmart and got a very nice "4-way" lug wrench for $12. Both problems are solved. Last edited by RedRide; 06-12-2017 at 07:46 PM. |
