Can i Bring MAF closer to intake manifold??
thinking of cutting my air intake and bring the maf closer to the intake manifold...of course only due to bigger and longer cone filter.. would this cause issue starting car or maf reading air mixture??....anyone?? thanks!

It's no big deal but if your trying to go faster leave it where its. Thats the sweet spot. Why do you want to cut your intake? Is it your stock intake? If so then why buy a new one. There fun to install and they look cool and they work great.

^ He's running a PRM Short Ram. Same one I have as can be seen in my garage.
I have seen someone with a setup that has the MAF sitting very, very close to the throttle body. I don't think you'll have an issue, but why do you want to do it? Also, with the vaccum nipple sitting right beside the TB coupler, there is no pipe really available to cut to make it shorter. Only thing you can do is cut a section out of the middle and splice it back together. And again, why? What is wrong with the existing PRM filter?

thinking of switching to a larger cone wont fit unless i cut on the throttle part of the intake which will make the maf closer to the manifold..but i read somewhere that this does slow you down..??

I was at a dyno session where, using the same tube, the PRM filter was compared to an AEM cone filter. PRM made more power.

Intakes are not about More Air Flow to make 'Power'.
Intakes work so well because the 'Incorrect Placement' of the MAF in the Intake Messes with the ECU's Calculations and Causes it to Accidently give you more Ignition Advance.. Another Side Effect of the Incorrect Air Flow Calculation is the ECU is Forced to Correct the Fuel Mixture by adding to the Long Term Fuel Trim.. and the WOT will be leaner ( Motors are Usually too Rich a WOT and Need a little Fuel Pulled.. For the Cat ).. Cap |
