Cold air intake vs air intake

I'm undecided between an cold air intake install or an normal air intake.
Like the AME cold air intake vs the aFe intake.
Which has a bigger bang for the buck and which sounds better etc.

normally I would assume that one is in fact a short ram the other is a cold air. however from the looks of things its just tow different styles of cold air systems, though the later of the two the aFe is a short ram with heat shield enclosure (still a cold air system)

sound wise they would both be about the same.
same story performance wise since both are technically cold air.
I would go with the cheaper of the two?

if i had it to do again i'd get the carbon fiber osram from one of the vendors. it's a sweet looking setup, and is just as good as any other setup.

here's the deal. ur getting most of your power/performance from the fact that it's not restrictive. and depending on which style filter u get u may end up with like a 2% increase in power vs another type. too many variables

simple and short...anything is better than the stock setup....and either short or long you're going to feel the same power cuz this engine doesnt have enough displacement to pull much harder than with a stock setup...

i'd go cheaper SRI vs CAI...u save a hundred bux and u get the same performance, it's easier to install, clean, maintain, remove for maintenance....and you'll get nearly the same power.

, it's really a personal preferance issue really, and what it looks and sounds nice, unless you are going down the forced induction track .

I'm planning on getting the AFE Stage 2 intake when ever I get some extra dough. Mainly, because I won't have to remove the bumper to get to the filter, as with a true CAI.

Hi I had a problem with the cone filter.I had the engine , vsc and traction control lights on(yaris sr 1.8 model). When i took my car to the dealer and checked it out he told me that they are turning on due to change of the standard air system and ther was nothing to worry about.Did anyone face this poblem yet?

Still more work than just taking off the filter. Yes, I'm one lazy bastard.

In all seriousness, I really don't have much time to take off the wheel and the fenderliner to gain access to the filter. hahaha.

Yes, it's a necro bump.

Will adding a CAI or SRI make the car much louder? I got a Tanabe Medalion Touring and didn't expect it to be as loud as it is inside the car.

Finally, should I go with a CAI or SRI if I want the easiest, quickest maintenance?
