What am I missing here?

Stumbled across this on accident, yet it seems to be pretty reasonably priced for the parts it contains (even if a decent amount are missing).

Thoughts on the full kit? I'm pretty hesitant as I've never heard the name before.

^ Let's start with the turbo.

1. T3/T4 is large for the Yaris, you will get some nice lag from that one.

2. Ask them what brand it is. I would never put a cheap no-name turbo at the heart of my boosted system.

3. What are we missing here? MANAGEMENT, including wiring and tuning.

4. What if you have a problem with the eBay seller after you purchase this?

Should I keep going?

I realized management was missing (some modification to the piping seems to be necessary as well), but didn't realize T3 would be too large. The turbo could always be sold and a smaller Garrett could be bought though. And wouldn't it be beneficial if there's any issues to have a seller to report back to? You don't get that luxury if you're piecing together your own kit.

I don't think I need to even say it, but I'm still pretty inexperienced in FI and just want some opinions

Come to think of it, considering the seller didn't realize a T3 would be too large is a pretty tell tale sign of how little they know as well lol.

Where is the exhaust manifold? Can someone say "OOPS"?

It just looks like a universal kit with no manifold. Just comes with a lot of common turbo parts and then you go from there with your own build.

That definitely seems like a good way to describe it.

So this brings me back to my original question: is the price reasonable for the parts it includes? It could potentially be a quick way to piece together the majority of a turbo kit.

I think you should buy it and see how far you can go with it. What's the worst that could happen, it all ends up to be crap and you are out 1.6k?

Ok I get it, it sucks lol. So what options do we have currently for legit kits? I know ZPI is out and I haven't heard anything about Power Enterprises lately. Does Greddy make a kit for our car or is it only for the xA/xB?

I know Greddy is only for the xB. It needs to be customized for every other application.

unless you could do other the other work yourself, you'd be out a heck of a lot more than that. tuning alone is expensive enough, nevermind installations, and hunting down whatever else you might need that wasn't included.

custom seems to be the only option, but a few people seem to be trying to piece together a kit. i'd just find a tuner you trust, and start talking to him.

Talking to a qulaified tuner shop is critical. That will lead you to the best path to boost. There are very few people on here that can tune a car themselves. I'm not one of them.

Garm's 5 Step Program to Successul Boost:

1. Think the project through, and make a complete parts list.
2. Buy quality, brand name parts.
3. Install professionally, especially wiring (whether or not you do it yourself).
4. Tune the system on a dyno (this is probably our most challenging point).
5. BE PREPARED for downtime - there always is.
