Anyone using Boost controllers with ZAGe?
I've noticed a bunch of electronic type boost controllers on e-bay.. Some claim your boost gets more controllable. Some boost gagues even offer that option.
Anyone has any any experience? Thanks Last edited by TOLMACH; 05-09-2013 at 06:15 PM. |

Not that I have heard. Only if you want to run more boost would I consider it.

I have a manual boost controller on my setup however it is a custom install and not Zage. Some electronic ones can even control your boost by RPM so I am assuming they can have a map like fuel, etc however not sure.

I'm using a tru-boost and have it dialed in for about 9 psi. Very simple to use.
Even if you're only boosting on wastegate spring pressure, you should run an electronic boost controller regardless. You WILL see faster spool up times. Manual boost controllers don't have that benefit though. |

On this I would have to disagree. Perhaps it is my lack of success with the aftermarket electronic regulated devices, but personally I wouldn't trust more of it to possibly take your motor to bad places unless you had a high quality device....and when I say a high quality device I am talking about stand alone management ones or else ones that have tech/parts that are directly used as the basis for the functionality in a solid stand alone ECU. I suppose that you could possibly say the same about a manual controller however they have less likelihood of failure.

It's the controller's job to avoid overboosting. That's one main reason to have a controller.

You simply can't go wrong with an electronic boost controller. Even if the solenoid failed, it's very unlikely you'd overboost (it would have to get stuck in the 'on' position). You'd be right back to running on spring pressure. |
