Hi all,

The front subframe on my 2002 d4d yaris mk1 is rotten, are all mk1 yaris front subframes the same?
My car is a 2002 yaris d4d jap built.

Thanks

Kevin

Yarii don't tend to rust much at all normally. The subframe of my 2004 hatchback was rustfree until I finally got rid of it in December.

My God that is bad. I wouldn't feel safe driving a car in that condition. Maybe it is time to find a new ride.

Good Lord! Looks like that thing spent some time submerged in a salt water marsh. What does the rest of the car look like?

Yes, it looks terrible. Doubt it would pass the MOT test. Uncharacteristic of almost any Toyota, almost like it was abused by a former owner. Is there a lot of salt in the air where you are - and do other cars get like this locally? Maybe if it had damage underneath plus a salty atmosphere near the sea, so that rust got inside the metal and spread, that might have happened.

I'm pretty sure they're all the same.

Only thing it holds it the rear motor mount, steering rack and suspension. I doubt toyota built different subframes for the diesel.
