Fog Light Help
So I ended up getting the new headlight stalk with fog light control on it and something just isn't right. I have rechecked everything numerous times and for some reason the fog lights only turn on when the high beams are switched on. The fog lights are installed, with one wire to a ground, and the other into the proper pin in the fuse box under the hood. An OEM relay was also installed under the dash, and the new stalk was installed. Any suggestions why this would be happening?

Did you already have the fogs wired, and then added the new stalk? This is what the wiring is supposed to look like when using the fog light switch on the stalk:

I don't know if these would be the case, but my car came with a DRL module and when I disconnected it my fogs stopped working. If you've disconnected yours you might want to try reconnecting it and see if changes it.
Hope this was helpful.

DRL's have never been touched. I'm in the process of deciphering that wiring schematic. As far as wiring, there really wasn't much, just the ground and and the wire to the fuse box under hood...

I'm assuming that the high beam and low beam wires need to be switched in the plug that goes into the stalk?

If you swap hu and hl then high and low functionality will be reversed. Did the new stalk replace the existing and the factory connector plugged back in?

Installed the fogs myself. From the fogs there is a ground wire which I grounded by the driver side headlight, and another wire that I wired into the plug in the fuse box under the hood. Plugged the Toyota relay under the dash. Then installed the stalk and plugged in the harness.

okay the problem is your fogs are working in reverse to factory ,
the most likely problem is the relay is switching in reverse. Talk to Garm at Microimage i sent him some relays and wire set up for fog lights a week ago . |

Where did you tie to in the fuse panel?
What is the part number on the relay (1NZ might be on to something with the relay being a NO vs NC or vise versa)? You plugged the Toyota relay into the open spot in the iside fuse panel right (It's not an aftermarket fog set that includes an inline relay correct)? |

I've tried 2 different relays now, one is a Tyco and one is Toyota. I'm still hoping it has something to do with the relay. It really can't be anything else, unless the stalk is bad (doubt it). I'll post pics and p/ns of the relays tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Fog lights
Could I ask: which Yaris are you driving? I bought my 07 hatch from a dealer who has flatly refused to help me outfit it with fog lights.
If there is an OEM light stalk with a switch for fog lights that fits my column, I'd like to know what part number to order. Thanks! |
