Quite possible. My sons 2000 ECHO went 200,000 miles needing only a MAF sensor and my 2001 ECHO 50,000 miles needing nothing.

So far my 09 Yaris has needed a water pump and an oil pressure sender. Im still hoping for long term reliability.

The Echo can't possibly be a better car, but if you like hatch over sedan, quite possibly.

Echos aren't the most stylish of cars, but I sure see a lot of them around here...more Echos than Yaris'.

Canada was fortunate to get the Echo hatchback... which was a great looking car!

Indeed it was. Saw one in person in SD of all places at Golden Corral. I was so jealous, and I had an Echo at that time. Like my Yaris a lot more than I ever liked my Echo. The wind threw the Echo all over the interstate.

Actually, the wind didn't throw my Echo HB (lowered 1.3) as much as my Yaris sedan (lowered 1.75 and with rear swaybar).

I know the Echo was a bullet proof car, but the Yaris is too. This is the first I've heard of someone saying the Echo was far better built.

What went wrong with your Yaris? Mileage/kilometers? It's undeniable that the Yaris was a much better overall car.

Here is my 09 Yaris with a Canadian ECHO in Carmacks Yukon Territory on my Alaska trip 2011!

Take your choice!

ECHO was lighter and I never heard of water pumps failing.

Yaris has a hatch and better climate controls and the gated shifter.

The Echo didn't have water pump failures, but the clutch was crap. It was actually the pressure plate that did not hold enough pressure. After about 15k miles, it would start to slip when cold.

Not sure why they came out with the name Echo, while it's named Yaris for the rest of the world except Japan.

I specifically meant the sedan sold in the US. It was a big complaint by many.
