Mobil1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20
Hello
I am coming up on needing to change my oil very soon. I am contemplating buying the Mobil1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 oil for the change. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/1/1...rt-98jq66.html http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...Qs.aspx#FAQs25 I already get great gas mileage, but if I can squeeze a little bit more out of my car, why not? My question is, I know 5W-20 is usable in this motor, as the dealership I bought the car from used it when they changed the oil before I bought the car. I am wondering, at what point will I have to change the oil due to outside temperature? I probably won't hit another 5000 miles before it gets cold outside (I am in N.E. Iowa). Also, has anyone else used this oil in their Yaris, and care to comment on what advantages it's offered, if any? Thanks for the help. -zkay |

We just bought the Mobil 1 A.F.E. 0w-20 for the '11 Fit for the upcoming O.C.. Thinking of taking it back for the Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20 . Both are good oils . Have been using SHELL full synthetic 5w-20 for 2 consecutive O.C.s and will be changing over to the SHELL synthetic 5w-30 in a few weeks and back to the 5w-20 in late fall . Here's a used oil analysis for the 5w-20 with a Toyota ( Denso ) oil filter , http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38135 . Toyota 0w-20 is good oil as well . Think it's supplied by MOBIL . Let us know what you decide on and your results .

I have been using Mobil 1 0W for nearly all of my oil changes. No issues in 107K miles. If it happens to be really cold when I make the Winter oil change I'll put the 5W in, but that didn't happen this past season.
(I did both mountain biking and skiing on New Year's weekend.) You can save a little bit by getting it in the 5 qt jug, and saving the remainder for the next change. You already match my mileage however, and I don't know if you will see any MPG improvement. I am hoping to see this motor get to 500K. |

I would just go to Walmart and pick up a 5 qt jug of Pennzoil Platinum, costs less that $5 a qt in the jug. In my experience, you really won't experience much mpg difference at all with oil viscosity changes

Hello
I wound up getting a 5 quart jug of Mobil1 0W-30 with a Wix Filter #51394 for $31. This was the first oil change I'd ever had the pleasure of doing on the yaris, and wow! It was much easier than other cars I've done it on! I know most places say you can only expect, at most, a 1-2% increase in mpg from using this oil. But, I shall have to keep track. Thanks for the advice everyone. : ) |

Lookin' forward to it . Then a U.O.A. ( used oil analysis ) of the A.F.E. 0w-20 would be a plus .

Got 46.5mpg last tank. That's on the upper end of my normal range, though not beyond it. I'll have to run a few tanks through it before I know what kind of effect it's really had, if any. We'll see!

I have been using Mobil1 0-30w for 4 years now, and have been happy with it. I now have 61,000 miles on my Yaris. This car has been problem free. Original brakes are still on it. Tires are Continental ProContact ECOPlus.

Just ran through the second tank with the new oil and filter, hit my all time high of 48mpg for the second time. Also trying premium (91 octane) for the first time with this tank, so I'll have to report back with the newest numbers at the next refill. I also drained out about 300ml of oil, out of fears I'd overfilled. Now the fill is right on the stick, so I feel a little better now (even though I know it probably made no difference at all). Thanks guys. |

want to get a 50+mpg tank
I might be able to help you with that. Do you have a scanguage II, or like it? I noticed you are mostly highway, which will make it more difficult to get to 50mpg on a tank.

What would you recommend I try? I use DFCO, coast up to / down what hills are here, pulse and glide, and I turn the engine off at prolonged stops (one traffic light where I work, and train tracks where I live). |
