Yaris Rally? Am I nuts?

So I saw an article (of which I lost) that someone took a Yaris to a rally race.
So I'm thinking it might be possible to make mine a little rallied out too.
However, I'm kinda green at this car mod thing...so a couple questions for ya'll:
1. (Can't find suspension parts) How do I raise the suspension by a couple inches? Anyone know how much front and rear would be good? All I've found are "lowering kits".
2. Would bigger shoes on my Yaris' lil'feet slow it down?
3. Suggestions on fog light brand & models for Hatchback? I don't want to cut my bumpers or get new body kits...so ones that just bolts on would be better...e.g. round hellas?
4. KNOW WHERE TO GET ROOFTOP CARGO RACK THAT FITS??

AHH...The lil'Asian chick asks a lot of questions...Thanks!!!
xoxo

1. i think some coilovers can raise as well as lower.
2. if you get light-weight rims, they will actually make the engine feel more free (less mass to rotate).
3. ????
4. Thule? i think there's a red LB here that has one.

I haven't done rallying in a Yaris, but have with other Toyota's.
Keep the stock springs but find the hardest strut / shock combination you can find. This will work well with the stock springs and keep the handling offroad to it's maximum. You don't need to raise it starting in stock class.

coilovers aren't designed for this unless you get a rally set, but they don't make it for the Yaris I think.

A good cage is always recommended.

If you plan to do rallycross, then the stiffer shocks will do with a good set of tires.

The stock rims and some knobby winter tires should be good enough.

rally cross is a good way to start and if you like that. you can get into some TSD events and then full rallying.

Have fun!

I'm thinking she is looking for the rally look. As in how the mini looks.

Well...I'm looking for the look of course. But really...I like snowboarding. I goto Big Bear every winter and have gotten stuck in snow in my old Pathfinder 4WD. So...I figured there's no way that the Yaris would cut it unless I make some basic modifications.
I'm not expecting it to haul ass through 4 ft of snow, but at least be able to get traction and plow through 6 inches of snow.
Do you think its possible?
And...it gets kinda dark up there at night, especially with snow...thats why I wanted the lights. And...I figured if I'm gonna install fog lights, might as well make them cool looking. Haha! I am a girl after all.
Thanks!! I really appreciate all the pointers.

PS. Maybe one day I'll get good enough to go all out and really rally. It was my dream to do Dakar. But...that'll take a while...and a different car. Haha!!
My dream car = 60's Alfa Romeo Guilietta GTV.hmmm....memory rusty...maybe its the GTA.

I guess Im not the only one trying do a rally look on this car....cuz STi isnt in my budget at the moment.

I asked a friend at work, a trucker. He showed me these bars that mount underneath the car in the front and.....you mount on 2 or 4 PIAA fog lights to any car. Simple two bolts get mounted either underneath or to the fron license plate holes. You should look into that, it would give it an authentic rally look and be good up there for the snow driving.

I forget what their called, but I'll post a link once i find them~
