July 2009 subcompact sales
For July, sales were up a bit, but overall things were still down ... except for Hyundai's Accent.
• The Hyundai Accent replaced the Toyota Yaris as the top-selling subcompact by 1,541 units (45,622 vs. 44,081) for year-to-date sales. Accent sales were up 13.3% in July '09 vs. July '08. • Yaris sales were down 36.4% for July compared to July '08 • Scion xD sales were down only 3.0% compared to this time last year, which is really good for that model. However, overall sales remain low at 7,717 units. • The Pontiac G3 remains the low point in the segment with only 2,315 sold in '09. • The Kia Soul is selling pretty darn well at more than 16,000 units. My girlfriend has an 09 accent.
I'm not really surprised it's doing so well considering the positive attention Hyundai has been getting lately. Plus she got it brad new, automatic, with power options for 11 grand (cash talks) I don't mind driving it, I love my yaris 100x more but the accents cabin and engine is a lot quieter for road trips and whatnot. I'd never buy one though.... |

The Prius, Corolla and Camry are in the list of top 10 new cars traded for "clunkers." Wonder where the Yaris is?

In my area, the Yaris LB has increased in numbers as far as my personal sightings over the last month. I have a 2005 Hyundai Tuscon and have no problems with it, same engine as the Tiberon. It's my third Hyundai and I would buy them again.

Yeah my mother has Tiburon, it's pretty nice but just not my style.
My girls accent is solid too. Hyundai is on top of Their game right now. |

The Accent is an ok car. In my area you can purchase a brand new base model Accent for 8k. The price makes it tempting…But than you can buy a year old used Accent with low mileage for 6K or less.
