What do you expect of a 106HP car? The only thing I may think to kill with my Echo on the street is a squirrel! Seriously... Echo/Yaris is build for fuel economy, not for performance.

haha. we need a sarcasm smiley (the rolling-eyes smiley is somewhat close though). lol.
but damn, 226hp yaris straight from the factory would be a killer. too bad we have anything close to it in the near future- a reliable 226hp daily driver that could run on pump gas and still have decent mpg... basically something that wont have "swiss cheese" for internals after a couple thousand miles like echo hrs suggested. but on the other hand- i have a feeling someone among the yaris crowd will come up with a yaris pushing 200hp in the distant future... with something a little better than swiss cheese for internals (pepperjack? lol)

Why the hell would you want 226HP in a 2,200lb FWD car? Sounds like a recipe for an undrivable piece of shit.

heck- don't really have to ask spoon or mugen, just ask toyota themselves...
http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews...r-1004935.html http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evoc...la_tsport.html corolla t-sport compressor ~2500-2600 ~215hp ~no mention of "torque steer" most high-powered fwd cars suffer torque steer. but on the other hand, on many of those high-powered fwd cars (like the 215hp t-sport) the torque steer is not enough to render the car an "undrivable pice of shit". shave off 200-300 pounds and add 10 hp and you have the 225hp yaris.
