Used (Certified) Yaris: good deal?
I'm still trying to decide between buying an auto or a manual, but in the meantime, another possibility has opened up: a local dealer says he has a used '07 Yaris liftback coming in for about $11000.
He didn't have all the exact details, but here's what he was able to tell me: about 13K miles on it, extra airbags, stereo (and assumably the cold-weather package). Because it's Toyota-certified, the original bumper-to-bumper warranty would still be in effect for another 2 years or so, plus the powertrain warranty would be extended to 7 years/100K miles from the original purchase date -- longer, actually, than the original powertrain warranty. What do you guys think? Is it worth saving $900 (and getting a few extras, like the airbags, that I wouldn't get otherwise), or should I go new? |

Does it have the power package? Sounds like a pretty good deal!

I don't think it's the power package, I think it's the "convenience package" that includes airbags and stereo along with the cold-weather stuff.

13K makes it sound like a lease, or possibly rental. If it is a lease (Avis, Hertz, etc) You couldn't pay me too take it. I worked for a major rental outfit a s a kid and people trash rentals!

interest rates are usually lower on brand new, so a 1 or 2 year old used car can end up costing about as much as a brand new one in the end, but with more scratches and dents!

most of my used vehicles have been 400$ or less with the exception of my first 3. Just the mentality I now have, new or beater: no in-between for me, especially with Toyotas since they seem to retain a lot of value
