Don't like the kitchen. Perhaps a black granite counter and a new stove might help. Is that vinyl on the kitchen floor?

Somebody need to soup-up that kitchen. But, adding some skirt and exhaust on the car is more fun.

well, when we bought the house the kitchen was pretty ugly...
we kept the 50's diner theme, so we installed a new counter top, cupboard hardware, and new vct flooring....

hallway before

hallway after

bathroom before

bathroom after

we've put a lot of time and money into this house.....my major worry is that with the market being so-so right now, some people (like yourself) won't like the way that we've done things....i blame hgtv

Yep. Not a good time be selling when everyone is worried about the economy. I'm in downtown Toronto and the price hasn't gone down. But, i'm not expecting any price increase for next summer.

The old retro Kitchen was kinda cool.

I like the kitchen. Did you do the wooden floors yoursel?
yeah, you might want to hang onto it for awhile. The market till take a nose dive, I'm sure.

Over here on the West Coast it's just starting to slow down. Toronto is being hit hard.
our dollar dropped and then we can start talking about politics......

Hows the car? BTW

wow what a mess to begin with.
how come you have differnt pics of the same kitchen or are they before an afters?? On the realtor's website theres a grenishblue and white kitchen then the same kitchen with wooden cabinets??? It looks nicer with the white modern cabinets...

oh and is that a grass driveway??? If you pave it ... that would be nicer...

otherwise nice house :]

well, i was just talking to my wife on the phone, and she says that the housing market is down about 30% right now, but prjections are that itll only be down 10% in the new year....so im keeping my fingers crossed that i can get outta dodge!

the problem with the larger cities like toronto and vancouver (esp. TO) is that there was a HUGE markup in housing on percepted value. i had a friend buy a house in oakville for 280 and now, a year later, he can sell for 330.....like 50k in a year? c'mon.

we never really saw that kind of crazy inflation in the maritimes, its always been steady....

and as for the hardwood, the living room, dining room and front foyer were already there in red oak. i did the hallway leading to the bedroom and all 3 bedroom in red oak myself....

ya, it was a bit of fixer-upper, lol.

we have a granny suite/inlaw suite in the basement (essentially a 1bedroom apartment) so thats why there our white/teal 50's kitchen upstairs and the other kitchen w/ wood cabinets downstairs....

and ya, the driveways.....i was going to put a garage door back on the garage in spring and get the front driveway paved this spring, but now we're moving. currently we mainly use the driveway off of the side street which is gravel (fairly compacted gravel at this point, lol)

What's with the extensive critique of the guy's house? Like he's going to do any of that stuff before he sells it?

wow. anyways, good luck with your sale, I hope you can get what you want out of it.

lol, thanks cali

had lots of plans for it in the spring, but now we're moving back to ontario....

planning on renting for a year or more (annie found a nice, cheap, good apt in downtown kitchener (699 + hydro (uses water/boiler heat)) so that we can save for a larger down payment on the next house or condo (annie and i are both luke warm on the whole idea of owning a full house right away again w/ a baby....its a lot of frickin work owning a house....time and money, time and money)
