What is this part? & Is this bad? 2 questions...
Hi,
Poking around my engine I saw two things: 1. White deposits on the hose that goes from the reserve tank to the radiator. 2. This one part that has frayed webbing (not sure what it is and what it does). If anyone has a good 2008 Yaris 4-door Sedan engine diagram reference, it would help. (see attached photos) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. meop |

Looks like the coolant lines for the throttle body. Used for controlling the air temp of inlet air. Not super important and can be bypassed if you see fit. Also white crystal ish build up is from coolant, probably from a tiny amount of seepage.

I think the woven piece is just an insulating cover for the coolant line, so there's no need to worry about the fraying.

Everything looks perfectly fine in the pictures, the white deposits are from road salt spray (coolant would leave behind a crusty deposit in whatever colour the coolant is dyed in). The fraying on the throttle body coolant line sleeve is normal wear and tear.
