Sedan Spyder Projectors HID Upgrade

Hi! I have the Yaris Sedan Spyder Projectors and I want to change the stock bulbs to HID. Was thinking to 6K, you guys think that will be a problem? Is it safe to change to HID? Wont that melt or damage the headlights?

Those were made for halogen bulbs and the reflector bowls are very small. You can run HIDs, but it'll most likely melt the housing or at the very least cause the reflective coating to start flaking off (meaning you'll lose light output).

I installed Kensun 6000K HIDs in my spyder projectors and they are fine. The only problem is that there is some glare above the cutoff line. I think I might know what the cause is but I will have to take it apart again to make sure....

Just the way the reflector bowl is made (since it was designed for halogen bulbs). Just like the OEM headlights, the reflector bowl is designed for halogen bulbs, which is why you get glare when you use HIDs in them. You can probably decrease glare by fabricating a shield that goes below the HID bulb to prevent some light bouncing off the bottom half of the reflector bowls (thereby bouncing upward and causing the glare).

Maybe instead of HID, try PIAA bulbs or would those burn just as hot?
