Megan Springs: A quick review

Rears seem the same unsprung length as the OEM springs, but are wound quite differently.
Fronts are about 1.5-2" shorter, but about the same winding.

Reused OEM shocks with 3100 miles on them.

Ride is almost stock. Noticeably stiffer over speed bumps though. A little more darty, but I haven't gotten it aligned yet. Still rolls worse than my stock WRX, but its close. And I'm running the RE92's with the OEM sway, so I didn't expect too much difference in control.
Stance is pretty good, but I'll actually take pictures in a few weeks after they settle.

As for the install...

Rears: Hardest part was keeping the rear end together while bolting up the struts! If you unbolt the struts and jack up both sides of the rear end, the springs fall out! LOL . But if you do one side at a time, its substantially harder... my advise, do the entire rear end at one time.

Fronts: Worst design I've ever worked on, easily. If I ever meet the designer, I'll punch him in the nose. I'm serious, its horriable. First of all you have to dismantle the cowl. Then after thats out of the way, the struts are held in the car by only one nut!?!?!? And that nut is on the strut rod!?!?! The top hat is just a friction fit. And is deep so you can't actually fit a wrench on the bolt. And with a socket, the strut just spins. YOU NEED TO GET A PASS THROUGH RATCHET! Like this: http://www.gearwrench.com/catalog/xl...m/gearratchet/ . You need something offset, like a ratchet, but you need to insert an allen wrench onto the top of the strut to keep it from turning. I didn't. I ran out of band-aids. I almost totally destroyed the nuts rounding them over. Do yourself a favor and get them. As for the excessively long sway bar end links, I didn't need to use an allen to keep them still, they came off with just the ratchet.

The install took 4 hours. 3 of them were wasted getting the front top nut off...

Yeah, the allen wrench is quite handy up front. The rear is fun isn't it?

very easy install really, I had four hands instead of two

With coilovers (at least on most cars) you don't have to use spring compressors for the front strut because the entire assembly is being replaced. The rear should be cake.

I ordered them on Saturday, got them on Tuesday. Couldn't be happier ;) Had to hunt down the UPS guy cause somehow he tried to deliver my clearly marked packages to apt 130... How in the world does 50 look like 130!!! LOL. The next day, he tried to deliver something to us for apt 130 lol

Maybe. The problem I had is related to removing the strut assembly. So if you can install new struts without removing the original assembly, it won't be a problem! lol

can you measure from the ground to your bottom lip of your fender on the front and rear? I am debating on the Megan Coils because I do not think they will be low enough in the rear, because the Yaris sits higher in the rear

Right now, with about 20 miles on the springs, behind the front wheel, its 7" AFF. In front of the rear wheel, its 7" AFF.

When I installed mine it was 1.375" drop both front and rear.....measuring center of wheel to fender lip.

if you had an adjustable height axle saddle you'd of had no problem with the rears...but the normal person doesn't have one hehe...and they come in soo handy.....



poor man's axle saddle=jack stand: if you're jacking up one side and then put a stand at max height on opposite side, then lower jack you could get the one side off no problem....and then do the same for the other one...
