Exclamation Engine Control Unit (ECU)

Hello..

I have my car ECU damage and my car if from Japan. Have anybody replace their ECU with one coming from UK or US.

My ECU is 89661-52b10, whereas in UK or US it is 89661-52E90 (different)

Can it be re-program for the key?

The ECMs are specific to the engine type and to the key security system (transponder key, smart entry, etc.). Which engine and key security does your 06 have?

No - The ECM is definitely not programmable. You will have to find an ECM with the same part number as your current one.

A standalone would handle the fuel, ignition, etc. aspects of running the engine, but won't handle all of the other functionality of the ECM. What exactly is you ECM doing or not doing?

How exactly is it damaged?

The reason I ask is that I have spent enough time inside of the ECM that I may be able to repair it, depending on what happened to it.

Yeps..I'm not getting power on the third ignition and spark plugs which result low in torque..the wiring was check OK, they suspect the chip for mapping is damage

Did they replace the coil pack on that plug? With the circuitry within the coil packs, you can't test them with a multimeter, like you could with a traditional coil.

If it is definitely the ECM that is not outputting to that coil pack, it may be a fairly easy repair to replace the driver for that ignition output (which is a transistor).

The coil pack is the part on top of the spark plug. The transistor has probably not been checked, since that is a part on the circuit board inside of the ECM.

Lightbulb main ecu replacement

In event of the main ecu replacement, is there anything to do like programming or replace other ecu(transponder, abs etc.)

Is it a direct bolt on with same part number? I am reading the service manual and observed that it needs only to program the VIN which is optional I guess..

CTScott, any thoughts on this?

Because he has the smart entry system, that system will need to be resynced with the new ECM (which requires the techstream tool to do).
