Had to fight the urge to key a Honda civic today.

So story goes I was looking for parking at Santa Row to take my girlfreind to Karas Cupcakes. Its supose to be some super gormet cupcake shop where the cupcakes cost as much as a gormet coffe.

But anwyays i was driving around and found a parking spot the kind near the sidewalk. I looked in my rear view mirror and no one was behind me so i pull ahead of the spot a little and start to backup to paralell park. Out of nowhere a honda civic mashes his gas pedal and pulls nose in, into the parking spot i had to slam on my brakes to prevent from hitting him. Come on this is the holdays I cant belive people do stuff like this. Anyways i pulled around the block and drove by slowly and dogged him for the longest time. I hope i scared him cause i really thought about doing something. But I am better than he is so just drove and actually found a better parking spot out of the rain. I hope karma pays him back.

Reminds me of that seinfield episode if anyone knows what im talking about.

Great restraint! We can only lead by example. We have enough rude and uncaring drivers in California.

Don't you just want to jump up and down on his hood/roof a little.

Talk about car and karma. Below is from yesterday's Wash Post Magazine article.

Kevin

In the mid-1970s, I lived in downtown Washington and worked on Capitol Hill. I nearly always took public transportation to work, but one day, after a Fairfax dental appointment, I found myself looking for a parking space.

Lo and behold, I found a spot just a couple of blocks from where I worked. But as I was starting to back in, a bright yellow MG convertible came up behind me and zipped into it. When I opened the passenger-side window to point out that I had been in the process of parking, the driver's response was, essentially, Eff you, lady, after which he gave me the finger. I had no choice but to find another spot farther away.

That afternoon, we had a violent thunderstorm that ended right as I left work. A few minutes later, I was standing on a street corner, mesmerized by the sight of the car that had taken "my" space: It had been completely crushed by a large tree uprooted during the storm.

From my reaction, some bystanders undoubtedly thought I was looking at my car. A couple even offered to help. Instead, I was silently giving thanks, both to my bully and the powers that be.

Yeah, that's Cali for you. We have tons of those asshats up here in Sac.

One time, I was taking my mom to Kaiser Vallejo, and we were waiting for this car to leave. I had my signal light on, and just waiting. Car backs out, and all of a sudden, an Explorer comes in and parks in it (and I've been waiting there for 5 minutes already). I was like "WTF!?" So my mom goes out and tells the woman that we had been waiting there. And guess what, the BITCH almost runs down my mom on her way out. After my mom's appointment, I drove around to where that bitch parked, and left her a "friendly" letter.

Note: I won't call a woman a "bitch" unless they endanger someone I care about. So no offense to anyone.

You did the right thing of just biting your lip and not retaliating, especially while with your GF.

Lucky for you you're not in L.A. This kinda stuff happens all the time out here, and in a rough neighborhood it can turn into an actual fight that's worse than the initial offense. A simple act of stealing a parking spot can lead to cops and paramedics being called. ..Some people just don't know how to be civilized...

Merry Xmas

Drive like a jerk, cutting people off and stealing parking spots and your car's gonna get keyed.

...just something else to keep in mind

Don't piss people off when you're going to park your car somewhere and then walk away from it. They can key your car, and drive away and you'll never see them again to cut their fingers off for it.

You are a very mature person. Here in Michigan, we'd of nailed his ass, then pulled him out of the car, pummeled him like a diseased dog, got arrested and then pleaded temporary insanity. But then, what else would you expect from a state with the most 'home militias'.

You might have scared him by dogging him for a while, but he might have also had a
chance to see your license plate and describe you in case something did happen to his
car. This kind of thing happens in Milwaukee as well, so not just California.

You did the right thing by letting it go and venting it here. What comes around
goes around.
