Billet Battery Hold Down... [pics]

Gauging interest for anyone looking for a CAD Designed, CNC Machined billet battery hold down, for their stock battery.

Will be avaliable in plain finish, or Anodized in the following colors: clear, blue, burgundy, black, and a yellowy gold. Maybe a few others once he gets rolling and there is enough interest.

This would be a complete replacement for your stamped thin little black bracket that goes across the center of the battery. Working on a solution for the clip-on hood prop holder...

These were the CAD design pics, to widdle out my tester piece.

Once installed and checked for correct fittment, I will contact YarisBuller to see about setting up a Group Buy.

*IF AT ALL INTERESTED, PLEASE POST. TRYING TO GAUGE INTEREST FOR A GROUP BUY.*

**UPDATE 01/21/2007**
Those still interested, please post up if you would like one. PRE-Group Buy pricing will be under $60usd shipped, Canada included! I will see exactly how low we can go with a GB, once YarisBuller sends me the Vendor setup info.

***UPDATE 05/10/2007***
Final Prototype pictures on last page!

approximately how much do you expect this to cost, roughly?

Price not set in stone yet, but in a Group Buy situation, expect for around $55 Shipped for the Anodized bracket,
and cheaper for the plain un-coated, non engraved logo bracket.

Canadian's will get theirs quicker, as thats where they are being made/shipped from.

To tell you the truth I have yet to use my hood prop, my hood stays up on it's own it is so small, anyone else do this? With the new Batt hold down we could just get rid of the hood prop

I wouldn't recomend removing the hood prop from the car. Just because there may not be a hold down bracket for it to rest when the hood is down, doesn't mean you still can't use it to prop the hood up/open.

I never leave the hood open unsupported by the hood prop.

I was just thinking the samething, should be a pretty cheap and "easy" install... havent checked price's but when I stop at autozone again I'll take a look at the gas shocks sizes and prices.

Thought of that a while ago.. I have some very short shocks off another project, and they wouldnt even work.

Keep in mind, there is plenty of room to mount the upper bracket to the hood, but there is not enough room to place/mount the lower to the inside of the fender(where hood closes).

If anyone figures it out, Id love to copy it.

NOW, back on topic.

FYI a few little design changes have been made in CAD, which is also bringing the price down a little....

Few changes still being tweeked.. will have an angled notch cut in for the hood prop.

Here, the top of the test fitting piece is finished.. Bottom is being cut now.
