Not sure, I have't installed my tach yet. It's quite low though, I had it where the engine was just starting to shake from the idle being too low, then I turned it back a bit and it's been great ever since.
I did not bypass the coolant line to the throttle body, we get freezing fog and occasional snow here so I didn't want to have to worry about it, so I kept the coolant lines running to the throttle body. And Captain Slow, I can relate when it comes to worrying about idle issues, I've had idle issues with many cars in the past and they are one of the most annoying things to deal with. Other than the high idle on cold starts, I have absolutely no issues with the car idling now. Hopefully that will ease your mind a little, I wanted to post my issues here so I could get some help and as you can see, it got sorted out. At very least, you could swap back to the stock throttle body and fix any idle issues that may have came from the throttle body swap. From what I gather from the system, the idle is completely controlled by the throttle body, there isn't any bypass valves or seperate sensors on the manitfold that dictate the idle other than the throttle body. So if you were having issues, it'd be an easy fix. |

Come on, somebody run to a dyno so we can see what this thing does with some I/H/E mods in place :D
I'd especially love to see the difference between the stock throttle body and the 1ZZ tb. |

I'll just copy-paste it over actually: Red: stock manifold + stock 1NZ FE throttle body Blue: tooter manifold + stock 1NZ FE throttle body Green: tooter manifold + Corolla 1ZZ FE throttle body So, 3 HP and 1.5 TQ from the throttle body. Most impressive though are in the top end, how the torque curve stays flatter longer, and the peak horsepower drops off later and slower. I think the results will be similar regardless of choice of manifold. |

Those dyno runs were as accurate a comparison as I could make. Each successive run reflected only one change at a time (first a manifold, and then a throttle body) with everything else exactly the same. +3/+1.5 is pretty good for a throttle body.

Especially when you consider the cost of the throttle body!

Yes.
And I just paid the going rate $125. That's pretty cheap power. |

important question Garm, what is the weight difference between the stock manifold and the Micro Image one? thanks.
or just what is the weight of the new item? if you don't have a stock one laying around to weigh I'm sure somebody does. |

I know. But the cheap ones either look like they had the crap beat out of them or that they were flood salvage and I didn't want to take a chance. The one I got came like this with the dirt scraped off...
After stainless steel bead blasting it looks like this... ...and it performs flawlessly. Hey, how about posting some more MI manifold pictures? Who else here has one? (Sorry for jacking your thread, Garm. The 1ZZ should have its own thread. Is there a mod here who could move it?) |

A couple other shots I have from installing the manifold:
As you can see it's pretty snug toward the front of the car. I had to take off the hood latch to get it in there without scratching up the runners. Mmm manifold porn. |

Removing the hood latch is a good idea. You could also blue tape it thoroughly, or tape a shop rag over it.

It's made of aluminum. I'd guess it a few more pounds than stock. It's negligible.

All shipped, I can't weigh one until the next batch comes in. I could've sworn I weighed one, but I can't find the number. It's a negligible difference, maybe 1-2 pounds more than stock.
