NF210 Tanabe install - Toyota Yaris Forums

Thanks to Chris07LB for his guide. I bought these springs used from Fenanorn a couple weeks ago and finally had a chance to put them on.

Just wanted to put a little info on the install and some pictures.

car is a 2007 automatic, 84k miles and pretty much stock. this was my wifes car which i now inherited after i sold my gt500 a few months ago, so now this is my daily driver.

The hardest part of the install was on the front end links, there is a spot for a 6mm allen key inside the bolt, my endlinks were corroded and rusted. Couldn't for the life of me get them to turn, so i picked up a 6mm allen socket and messed both links up. So i was over thinking it and tried drilling one side out, as i thought it was a cap screw originally. Put a set of vice grips on the back and hit it with my impact and came off instantly. Couldn't believe i wasted so much time on this part.

The instructions said cut from 18mm to 25mm off the bumpstop, 25mm equates to almost an inch, which is pretty much what i cut off on both sides. I didn't follow Chris' info on this, and i hopefully cut the right part according to tanabes instructions.

The rear springs are very easy, and the front is not too bad with air tools. I removed the wiper motor and underneath brackets so i could just hit the top strut nut with the impact.

After i finished it, i saw my strut mounts sit up some, but i never noticed if it was like this with the stock springs.

car drives much better and sits better as well. going to be putting on some mr2 spyder rims on soon and i'd like a rear sway bar. no real big plans past that. the yaris is a good economy car and has served us well for 60k+ miles. i am quite happy with it.

Springs really help the handling. Have you added a rear anti-sway bar yet? If not, do! Amazing the difference!

Not yet, id like to get the 23mm one though. Probably going to be the next thing i do.

wait until the springs settle...and once you add in a 23mm sway bar, you'll be blown away by what something so simple can do.

I have a front sway bar on it, not sure what the size is though.

Thicker front swaybar will contribute more understeer though. I like stiff rear, loose front, lets you kick the tail out.

Congrats on being dropped! About how much time did the install take?

Mine took nearly 8 hours lol. If you don't have one of these http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-R.../dp/B0042AM7E6 then getting the nuts off the top of the front shock towers is practically impossible. That's what took me forever. We bought 4 different sets of wrenches trying to find something that would reach down into that hole without stripping the nut. That tool is what finally did it.

NF210s are great. I love mine. Also, definitely add the sway bar, it makes a HUGE difference in the body roll.

Not so much on the Yaris. I know this first hand, and have one on my car. I can spin out the tail EASILY.
When you reduce roll, part of what happens is an increase in the contact patch in front.

Excellent choice on springs. I've had the same ones for years over stock shocks and they refuse to die.

No you don't need to replace shocks. NFs are such a mild drop that really do not negatively impact the stock shocks/struts.

I out the 23mm bar on the back of mine and at was ridiculous how easy it was to step the tailout with some trailbraking. Put on the 25mm front bar and that helped settle things down...but at the cost of low grip low speed push.
