Getting my yaris painted

I jsut bought a Yaris LB, and got a really good deal on it, but it is blazing blue.. aka Godafwul Blue. I want to get it painted a much darker color, but I have no idea how much that will cost me. I don't need a great paint job, just one that is not blazing blue. How much is this going to set me back to change the color of my Yar'?

Get it WRAPED. so when you sell it it will have the nice fresh factory paint on it.

I didn't know you could get that for normal cars (I assumed it was only for putting adverts on your car). Where can I go to get my car wrapped, and how much does that cost?

wrapping/vinyl is by far the best option compared to painting anything (as its not permenant)

and if anyone does get any pricing info do be sure to post it up

any complete wrap jobs Ive seen on TV have been the price of a new paint job (base + clear) and they may peel or fade within 5-7 years. Im looking at painting my blazing blue as well - since Id pull all the parts and prep the car myself Ive been told anywhere from $1200 to $2500. Or go the el-cheapo maaco job for like $400. If someone finds pricing on complete wraps Id be interested to see the total cost.

In australia....i called a couple of dealers about a whole spray paint job.

Quoted me 5000 - 10,000 dollars.

If i wanted pearl paint (2 toned paint) it will cost me 13000+

obviously its not worth it unless ur super rich and bored with your money

I came from driving a Cadillac STS. 18 MPG.

I could have waited 3 months to get the black Yaris I wanted or I could take the silver one staring me in the face and get 40 MPG that day. I settled for silver.

Am I dumb?

Oh, and you can wrap cars in vinyl? Are you serious? I have never even heard of this.

My plan for paint... see, the family friend that sold me the car is the daughter of the owner of the dealership I bought it from. She is 25 and relatively hip. My dealership was also pivotal in starting the Scion NRG club, so they're no strangers to the modding crowd. I'm hoping that if I keep on the right road I can go to them sometime soon with a car show on the horizon and say "hey, if you hook me up with a deal from your body shop for a nice paint job I'll let you put the Don Joseph Toyota Scion logo wherever the hell you want, and I'll be at blah blah blah next weekend so maybe you'll see a picture or two in a magazine or online." I have no problem displaying logos for the companies that do me right, and companies often have no problem hooking owners up if there is something in it for them.

Just an idea... you can definitely haggle a good deal on paint if you know the right people and have the right attitude about it.

All I am saying is for a paint job that is $2000+ it is just alot of money to spend on a brand new car.

i want to paint my car too.. but mainly just because it never came in green, and thats just not right.. my third car, first one not green, so i plan on changing that...also first one without leather which will also be changing.. that wrapping thing sounds really cool, id so be interested if they had the shade of green im looking for.. i want like a highlighter lime hurt your eyes green, maybe either candy coated or flaked...but for this i can wait.. the interior comes first....lol

Wrapping an entire car in a solid color vinyl surely must look like shiznit.... that was a joke, right? There's no way to get the same amount of shine as a hard gloss paint, and what, you'd have to Armorall the whole thing instead of wax it? Bizzzzzarre idea.

Took this from the APE site:
"It is important that you understand a Wrap does not provide for covering 100% of the vehicle, as some areas are not conducive to vinyl at all such as cracks, expansion joints and seams. The material manufacturers recommend a º inch gap in these areas to prevent material failure and insure correct adhesion."

Dunno what that little "0" is supposed to be, but if they're leaving any gaps, it's not a real option for changing the color of your car.
