For Sale: OEM Retrofit Projector HID Headlights

I recently picked up another Yaris and am in the process of getting it back on the road for a friend of mine, who could really use a reliable, fuel efficient car. The car had a lot of extras and I am looking to sell all of them to minimize his final cost for the car.

The first item for sale from it is a set of OEM retrofit projector HID headlights. These projectors have a blue and green halo, that is not street legal, but is wired separately, so it can be switched on separately from the headlights. The projectors are incredibly bright and do not have a separate bulb (or gate) for high beams. The reflector is painted a metallic gun metal grey (that would be a close match to meteorite metallic). I powered them to snap the last two lit pictures.

Price: $200 shipped to the US. $240 shipped to Canada.

I should have snapped one of that while I had them wired up. It is kind of hard to get an exact look with them off the car, but the cut-off looked proper.

The projectors are mounted in place of the OEM adjustment mechanism, so the height is fixed. The bulbs are D2S Type.

Damn I would have snagged these up. I picked up a spare set of OEM headlight casings and want to do this projector retrofit. My mechanic buddy offered to help me out. I told him that ppl are painting the insides of the housings a flat black typically, and he didn't understand quite why. He seemed to think it would reduce the overall brightness of the light emitted. Can you elaborate so I can explain to him the purpose? I do like the finished look of the retrofit with the inner casings painted a flat black so would like to go that route.

With projectors, the light shines directly outward and the lens on the projector spreads the light, whereas with the standard setup the bub shines forwards on the back of a metal reflector, which then bounces the light off the shiny surface inside the headlight to spread it.

The primary purpose of painting the inside is to make it not look silly (as reflective surfaces behind and around the projector make it very obvious that it was a retrofit). Some say that it prevents the projectors from spreading too much, but they really wont shine on that surface.
