trip odometer reset at 10,000

As topic states... Anyone else have their trip odo reset on itself? I was pissed then I rationalized that I got to 9,999 then it "rolled over." My trip a overall mileage is gone. Well I'm at 10,056miles by me. Anyone have confirmation of this? Thanks

I never let mine get that high but it doesn't surprise me it rolls over after a certain mileage. For me, Trip A is mileage on the current tank, Trip B is mileage on the current oil since changing it. IE right now A: 205.8 miles, B:1146.1 miles.

Why would you need one of your trip odometers to go more than 10,000 miles?

I used trip a for total; I usually leave it on that because I like to see tenth of mile. Trip b is since fill up. Oil is written down. Work miles are written down too. I could use a for trips or how many miles driven at work.

I use Trip A for gas mileage, and Trip B for oil change also...I just started using Amsoil oil too, rated to be good for up to 25,000 miles. I guess I'm going to have to find another way to keep track..

I would never, ever run a car 25000 miles without changing the oil. I don't care what a manufacturer claims.

I go by 5k intervals.. oil change 5k, 10k, 15k, etc... easy to keep track of. It doesnt matter if you are a couple hundred miles above or below your expected oilchange

And for us poor people who are metric, our trip odometer only goes to 10,000 kilometres (6200 miles). I really do not use my trip odometers. And like ilikerice I go by 8k intervals for my oil changes and use spritmonitor.de to keep track of my car expenses. I am Rollerskate on spritmontior.

Exactly. Because what they claim, and what happens when you have sludge dripping out of the pan at 25,000 miles and an engine not up to par,...those are gonna be two different things. And it'd be pretty tough to get an oil manufacturer to warranty a new engine.

On topic: I'm not sure what to tell ya. I've never met anyone who wants to know the total mileage of their car to the tenth of a mile or uses their trip meters above 10K miles. In fact, most of the people I know don't reset their trips at all and just let it click off miles.

And that really gets under my skin. I HAVE to reset it after every tank.
