I rarely see a Yaris here, maybe one a week, usually a sedan. Where I live it's nothing but rednecks and large pick-up trucks.

I just saw an identical Yaris to mine, medium silver metallic 3dr hatch, today. I've seen the same one before around where I live, so they must live near by. Although I have been seeing more and more hatchbacks, I think they're still a niche, like they've always been. Americans seem to prefer sedans or coupes over hatches, which I don't understand, hatches are much more useful for carrying things. Maybe it's related to the attitude that you need a truck to haul things.

Yeah, when I visited Indianapolis in August (IIRC) I only saw one Yaris.

The vast majority of Yaris's I see, about 25 a day (I live on the road as a driver), are '07-'11 sedans. You know, the model Toyota decided to drop. It was always reported that the hatch accounted for 50% of sales during the 2nd gen, but I just have a hard time believing it. I've been in lots of parts of the country and it was always about a 5:1 ratio, sedans to hatches.

As for the 3rd gen, sales have really floundered and I see maybe 1-2 a day vs the 25 a day of the 2nd gen.

The US market is just different than others. This is a country where 40,000 Camry's sell a month. 70,000 Ford F-series trucks sell per month. While 3,000 Yaris's sell.

I see earlier Yaris's and I saw mine but different color as well. I hoping to give the person a wave but she turned in a gas station early. So, it has been a while since I've seen my exact model as well.

I just got back from California and saw about five or six hatches/sedans, but none were the newer generations. I see them quite a bit though in Vegas.

Driving home on the highway tonight, saw plenty of Yaris - from a pretty blue to silver - I think I saw about 7 of them on my 20 minute trip home. They are very popular here in Brisbane Queensland Australia

I see maybe 2 a day, during the week I may see more sedans over a hatchback.
I did see a 2013/14 5 door. I did like the sharper lines from the rear forward, I did catch my eye. Yet I'll be stickin' with my 2010 for about the next twenty years.

Yaris here in SE PA fall in the common category, not remotely as common as Civics, Mustangs or F150s but I see them daily. Rarely see a sedan, and almost all the other Yaris I see are 4 door LB with elderly driving them.

However, the rarity is spotting modified Yaris, I saw one blue with all the sporty bells and whistles nothing tacky, I wanted to make friends but no one in sight! I wish there were people around here with this Yaris addiction.

I've done the same, then question why I did it, not many Yaris owners regard their Yaris as highly as we do it seems.

I read the title of this thread and was going to jokingly post "They're all in Quebec".

When comparing the US to Canada knock every car up a class. The Yaris is to the Corolla in Canada what the Corolla is to the Camry in the US.

What part of super cheap gas in the US (especially compared to Montreal) made you think the Yaris would be popular in the states?

OK trip over, Two weeks Montreal to Tampa and back and didnt see a single Yaris, I think the Yaris has the makings of a cult car in the USA,
Odd as i saw plenty of Cars similar in size to the Yaris like Focus,Aveo,Accent, etc so it isnt that Americans dont drive cars the size of a Yaris sedan..

Two Yarii you might have seen were up here, closer to your home base. When I left my hotel in Burlington, VT this morning, 3 of the 14 cars in the lot were Yarii (including mine). The other two were sedans -- one with Tennessee plates, and the other with Virginia plates.

Is yours a rental, or did you drive all the way to VT?

No, I drove to Burlington. I spent the previous night in Brattleboro. After some sightseeing yesterday in Burlington, I was planning to drive back to Brattleboro, but I was too tired (a welcome respite from my insomnia). Staying in Burlington wasn't as good value wise, but road safety is paramount !
