I purposely had my ac running today. 83 degrees out. And I had to turn it more than half down to keep from freezing to death. So mine is working very good. I'm not getting 40 miles to the gallon and I have 1,500 miles on mine now., I'm only getting 38.5 miles to the gallon now. And I'm passing every car on the road.

I'd take it into the toyota folks. Something must be wrong with yours.

The Yaris is Good, i picked the Yaris over the Mazda 3.

The A/C is good too. The only thing i dont like is, i hear the engine straining when i'm accelerating. But after that, it's nice and quiet.

I will say that my A/C doesn't seem to be close to as cold as in other cars, but I rarely use it, and I also hate it when the A/C is too cold, so I see it as a plus. Could be that I just haven't run the A/C at full tilt yet, either.

Could be worse. The A/C could sap horsepower from the car (if it does, I haven't noticed it). I've driven cars that had more powerful A/C. I've driven cars that had no A/C. The Yaris may not be the best, but is it the best in it's class of car? I think that's an important distinction.

Personally, the A/C of my Yaris doesn't seems to effect any horsepower or torque of the car at all.
My sister use to have an Intergra Type R. That car is build "NOT" to have a/c. onces the a/c is on, you can see you can't push as hard on the car.

Not true everyplace in the U.S. California for example does not have a "cooling off period" Once you sign the paper work, that's it. You can't return it, unless the dealer agrees. And dealers here make sure those signs are posted everywhere so people see them.

In general you went to the dealer, so you bought it. If they had come to your house and solicit your business it may be different. In some states you would have 3 days to cancel. Just got my yaris and only have 40 miles, but the ac works well. Had to turn it down. (outside temp 88F)

Make sure you turn the dial to the far left which is the coldest one, cuz even if you turn on the ac, you still can adjust the temperature of the ac like the coldest one with dial turned left and warmer ac with dial turned right

Just wanted to add that the top HVAC control has a selector switch that controls pass-through. If you have that set to allow outside air to come into the car while the AC is on, the AC will have a much harder time cooling that hot outside air, as opposed to just recirculating the already colder air in the cabin.

So make sure when you are evaluating AC that you are doing it after the AC has been recycling cabin air for 10 or 15 minutes at the least, not when the exterior vents are open.

I know this seems obvious, but (no offense meant) the OP'r didn't seem too bright.

Well, you seem to be the only one having a problem.

Maybe their is something wrong, and you need to take your car to the dealer to get it looked at.

Agree. With the warranty, let the "experts" review/fix for FREE....

Tinted windows will not solve an A/C or any other problems the OP has described .... while they (tinted windows) can help keep the temp down if there is a problem with the system the dealer should fix it for you... thats what a warrenty is for!
I wish you luck and hope the yaris works out for you!
