New Yaris Owner

Hi guys,

I am a 17 year old kid who just bought a 2012 Yaris today.

I'm looking to make it a bit louder but still legal. I have no clue where to do.

Can anyone help me??

:))

Not sure what all is available to you in the Australian market, but the Revel (aka Tanabe) Medalion is a popular option. Handsome piece with good sound qualities.

Post I made many years ago with video taken in cabin. I apologize for the length. Should have edited it down before I uploaded it.

I have a Fujitsubo Authorize RM on my 2014 and its very mild. Got it from blackhawkjapan, its not cheap but it looks and performs great.

Welcome to the yari gang dude, Get yourself a nice 2" high flow muffler and have an exhaust shop fit it or buy a bolt on if you are cashed up.

Im using the tanabe G fordan axle back bolt on I repaired, these yari sound mint with a little more rumble.

im actualy looking at doing something out in left field instead personaly....im going to see if i can find a "nice" OE unit to cut open and add a bypass valve so at higher RPMs it will just bypass all the restrictions

I think I read some time ago (probably when I first bought my Yaris) that the original muffler has a spring loaded bypass valve internally. This is supposed to open when the exhaust flow reaches a certain level. I definitely hear my 2nz-fe get louder at higher RPM.

Might just be a case of remove the spring and add a control cable...

It includes pictures of a standard muffler cut open.

Thats kind of cool but the car drives so much better with my high flow g fordan I can't go back. The old trd had a nice lumpy burble sound to it but really restricted the car.

Without actually cutting apart a later one, the muffler on my series three appears to still be the same. There is a distinct change in sound and volume under hard acceleration at about 4000 RPM with my 2NZ-FE.

It would be interesting to put a microphone near the tail pipe and record the sound difference. A noise level meter would also be interesting readings if anyone has one available.
