front end damage mystery

I hit some loose gravel last week on the front right with my Hatchback,07.
I made a major racket. Ever since I have a knocking sound in the front but no one has been able to ID the problem yet. It sounds like the soft knocking of a loose muffler but the
mechanics say nothing is loose and they were underneath it in a service pit.It also has a similar knock to a bad water pump bearing but no change yet in water temp. via scan gauge.
It seems to lessen when I press on the gas. There is also some tinny metal scraping off and on which I think might be a broken shock but the car doesnt look crooked at all.
The sound is in the front.
Anyone have an experience with something similar.???? thanks

Check the front brake shield on that side.

where in the usa are you? if you are close to some of us that spend time under vehicles, then we could take a look under there, maybe with a comparison to a "known good" yaris... that will probably be what it takes to make the final diagnosis unless that mechanic that you took it to is blind...

Hitting gravel = broken motor mount?

I was picturing an inch or two of gravel on the ground - now I'm guessing you ran into a large pile.

There are about a million places gravel could lodge itself or damage in a car to make noise. Diagnosis over the internet is improbable.(at least without pictures and a much better explanation)

You might have a rock lodged in your tire tread.

Pull off your front tires and check behind the brake rotor, I get rocks in mine all the time. It makes a horrible noise.
