HELP Aux input install in canadian 2008 hatchback

Hi internet, first post here!

I recently acquired a 2008, 4-dr Yaris hatchback and so far I'm loving it... Until I noticed there's no way to play my music over the car speakers. The CD player doesn't read my burned CDs and I'm not fucking around with the low quality sound of FM transmitters. So I figured: AUX CORD!

I've read other forums and pulled up the trim and I have figured out that the car was wired for an aux adapter that would have gone behind the gear shifter, but mine didn't come with the 3.5mm port. (see pic 1 at bottom of post). Yet when I trace harness back the HU, it's not actually plugged into anything anyways. Someone else said that's because the Canadian Yaris' received outdated HU's installed by the dealership, not the factory(?) The HU part number is 08600-00980, made by Fujitsu. (pic 2) When I pulled it out, I noticed there were 3 connectors running towards the HU. 2 plugged in, the other not. There was also a 3rd unused terminal on the far left of the rear of the HU (pic 3) however it didn't fit the remaining connector. (said connector in pic 4)

After some poking around on the google, I found a pinout for the terminals of this specific HU (pic 5). Now it would appear that the cn702 5 + 7 pin connector on the left has the capability to receive an audio input. Is there any idiot-proof 3.5mm to cn702 12p adapter out there that will feed a stereo signal from my phone into this terminal and play thru the car? Or would soldering the Rch, Lch and shield wires from an old set of headphones (male 3.5mm on the other end obvi) to pins 1, 2 and 3 work just as well? If that won't work, I could guess why...I notice a R+ and L+ as well as R- and L- in the pinout sheet.....what's the difference, are these ch(-) necessary?

The stereo is currently out of the car, sitting in 6 different pieces on my workbench atm ready to be fiddle-fucked with and have this project completed.

Plz helps, ~Jack

Your plug in pic 1 plugs into one of these or similar.

Another cheap and easy option. I prefer USB.
