Toyota engine with 300,000 miles

There’s a YouTube video of a Toyota Camry engine with 300,000 miles getting a new short block. They show the whole procedure start to finish.

Guess what Oil filter you see on the old short block?

FRAM.

Go ahead google it on YouTube.

Awesome! Strange that the Internet is full of people cutting open FRAM Oil filters and wringing their hands about the paper end caps.

They don't realize that oil filters aren't 100% full flow. There's a bypass valve that opens to let oil flow when there's a restriction or when high flow in required. I generally don't run Frams because they seem pricey, I just get the oem filter. They carry them at our Walmart.

I have heard that the cartridge style of oil filter ( which Toyota no longer uses on my 2020 Corolla ) does not have a bypass valve, nor does it have a anti-drain valve. I

Which is strange also. I am SO glad Toyota has returned at least my car to the spin on filter!
