Yeah, I saw your post. I been thinking about it for a few months, as I'm suspecting the air intake is to blame for declining power and MPG in the Alabama heat (just passing 100,000 miles...). Seeing your post about easy install, good quality and at least noticeable difference... pushed me over the edge.
Is it very noisy? You said signature intake sound... but will it wake up neighbors? Last edited by swidd; 07-11-2012 at 05:03 PM. |

no, the signature sound is much less than my last one (on a 4.7 liter dodge)
get a friend to pump the accelerator while the hood is up. the quick abrupt whistle as the throttle body opens and closes is more what I was talking about. since it is drive by wire, you can't do it from under the hood (I don't think). usually it is the exhaust that gets you noticed. |

IMO, with the SRIs, there's a noticeable "throaty-ness" when opening it up over the stock intake, but nothing that'd be noticed by anyone not familiar with the Yaris. However, you'll just hear a bit of a whooshing/sucking noise when revving in neutral.
Also, FWIW, I don't have a heat shield on mine, which probably makes a difference. With the aFe being hood sealed on top of that, I doubt it'll be too loud.
