Ok to get an alignment?
It's Monday (june 1st) and I've had my lowering springs on for almost two weeks. It will be two weeks on Wednesday and I've racked up near 800 miles I'd safely assume. Is it too early to get an alignment or should it be alright to do so?

I'm sure you springs have settled by now. I wouldn't waste my money on and alignment until you get some camber bolts though. I am pretty sure that they can only adjust tow at this point anyway.

I don't believe that the drop is that significant to where they can't adjust it to factory specs. I'm just trying to figure out if it's too early to get an alignment and I should wait longer or if it would be fine to get it done. I just dont want to waste $50 if I don't have to.

Go for it , but i bet they adjust nothing . unless you want stock castor.

Stock factory specs is fine for me, I'm not looking for any special setup.

I'll be sure to do that. Went up there today to get an alignment but the tech that specifically does alignments, and only alignments, was out today. There was 2 other mechanics who were able to do it but I said I'd just wait until tomorrow because I'd rather have the "master" do it than the apprentice.

^ I agree. It'd be a good idea to get an alignment anyway, since I doubt you drive on glass-smooth surfaces daily lol

Hmm i been driving for about a year and still havent got an alignment over 10k miles later =). Havent noticed any tire wear. I have TRD springs. If toe is off its ever so slightly. Which i dont think it really will be off with that mild of a drop. There might be some slightly negative camber but i dont mind a tiny bit you get a little better handling.

I installed shocks/struts along with the springs, so I'm not sure if it would make too much of a difference in how bad it may have thrown off the adjustments. And considering the roads here, it wouldn't hurt to get an alignment anyways lol.

Apart from adding camber bolts, with springs the drop is pretty much un-adjustable. There just isn't a whole lot to play with in the yaris front suspension (or anything to screw up by adding springs ). Camber is related to toe in MacPhearson, so just be aware if the alignment come back slightly out of factory specs.
(with the springs you will probably have a slight negative camber and negative toe)

I had some EIBACHS putted on and had the alignment done a week after. That was enough time. I'm in FL though. We drive for everything here...

well the toe was at .13 and .15 on the fronts, they were re-adjusted to within spec and are at .09 and .07.
The rears are nonadjustable and the rear right is within spec, but the rear left is at .32, the within spec is .31. So not a big deal and shouldn't hurt anything since it's pretty much right there within the limit. Car feels a bit smoother and "flatter" feeling in the little distance I drove it from the tire place to home. |
