whoa sweet. Oh! also is it ok to tap the illumination wire to the red constant? just like we did with my tach? so the back light is always on.

edit: how would be the best way to tap that big wire? cut some rubber off and just twist the wire around it and tape it off?

yup or you can find the alarm wires and tap into the red wire for the alarm thats also a 12volt constant that comes of the biggest harness on the alarm for the illumination wire i would tap it into the yellow wire off the alarm thats on the pack of wires that are all like stuck together so it turns off with the key

Is that 12 constant always on? I was trying to tap into a source that only turned on when the car was on but I guess it doesn't matter

the big black wire yes is 12volts constant theres another wire that is ignition only when the key is turned on which is the one that he uses for the tach light

Ok from what I can tell on the manual it says the power gos to ignition and the illumination switch goes to headlight or something. I think he needs to take the two wires apart. I think its blowing the fuse cause we have both the illumination switch and power wire spliced together.

oh ok if its the main power you need constant 12 volts so hook em to the big black wire or the red wire off the alarm and the illumination is off the yellow wire coming off the alarm

Ok when I tap to the big black wire it instantly blows the fuse, I did I twice just to make sure. Ill try tap it to the alarm red off the largest harness and the yellow off the one next to it thats all stuck together.

here we go!

Ok hooked it up to the yellow and red wire of the alarm. and it blew the tach/radio fuse, but the power window was working, even with the car off it worked. then it stopped. Im not sure if I blew two fuses, but i replaced the tach/radio fuse and tried again.
It blew the fuse again, so i took the illumination tap off the yellow wire and replaced the fuse, and tried. It didnt blow the fuse but it still wont work. No power. But im not sure if I blew two fuses, everything seems to work.

edit: Pulled and checked all the fuses in the inside and all good. quite confused

ok so one of two things either it draws to much current or something is grounding out in the unit itself

I was thinking. Could I tap it to a 25 fuse and put it in the empty power window slot?
