Best Clay Bar?
Haro~ I was wondering what is your guy's opinion of the best clay bar? I've had my car for almost 2 years and I haven't clay bar'd (bared? barred?) my car yet [so bad i know :/]. I heard Mothers California Gold Clay Bar was good. Any good reviews on this one or any other good clay bars?

I use the Mothers gold one and have no complaints. It's the only one I have used, so I have nothing to compare it to. It does and amazing job.

i use the meguiar's clay kit and i'm very happy with the results. i believe you get more clay in the mothers or clay magic kits, but i'm pretty sure they all do the same thing.

I used Meguiar's as well, and was very pleased :) Arm hurt like hell afterward though!

ive read up on Meguiar's and it has a very good review rate~
quick thing, i've read that some people use craft clay as a cheap substitute for clay bar? would this even work? and if it does, has anyone actually tried this? |

I've used both Meguires and Mothers clay bar kits. Personally, I didn't really like mother's clay because it tends to stick a lot. It's more adhesive and stickier. I guess that's better for picking out craps from the paint surfaces, but it made the whole process more stressful because the clay would get into my fingernails and stuff and it was really annoying. No complaints for meguire one

hey thank you guysss for the response~ i just bought a Meguiar kit but i'm going to hold off on that. my friend had half a bar of left over Mother's clay bar so i'm going to try that first. Since it sounds like Mother's is more of a hassle, might as well start off with the more annoying one~

You have to spray the detailer on while using either of those clay bars. lol
That's most likely why it was so hard to do. hahaha I just bought the turtle wax "black box" and WOW! It's VERY, no, EXTREMELY messy and very tiresome to do it right but the results are fantastic. |

www.griotsgarage.com has a great claybar, for the cost you get a larger quanity of clay than the others.....it also does not seem to stick nearly as bad as the others.....give it a try.

yes i use the quick detailer spray as lubricant whenever i clay my car. even with that, mothers clay (yellow one) tends to stick too much. but tbh, it gets its job done better. just way more annoying that's all

I was just looking at clay bars today. Ginna have to wait for clean, warmer weather though. My car's an '05 and it's never been clayed. It feels SO nasty. It's funny that the hatch is the worst part though. Probably because it doesn't get blasted off by the elements as I drive it just gets the spray from turbulence behind it.

Clay Magic.
the Trademarked Clay Bar. all the others clays are basically clones of it. when it comes to clays though - theres really only SOO much difference when it comes to quality - from what i know...unless your throwing Liquid Clay Kits into the bunch as well. Clay Magic i would say is Number 1 Meguiars and Ice Clay Kit (that also comes with the liquid clay.good for when your doing inbetween major washes) Mothers and then whatever else. Clay Magic and Ice work GREAT on my Absolute Red Yaris. No Complaints. No thin line scratches. |

I used ice it did the job and the light color clay makes it easy to see what's coming off. I think if I had more money I'd buy smart wax. But that's just me. It's always a good idea to do at least one clay job a year, the results are always fantastic!

i had just recently used Mother's clay kit...and as for now i am super satisfied at this moment...although its tiring and it sure took a hell of my time...but its worth it...and by the way, i also used Mother's Spray Wax after I clayed my HB and it sure made my lil car more smoother and shinier....

I use SmartWax bars, and their quick detailer - very nice products.
