tweeter mounting
I am hoping on getting a set of component speakers installed fairly soon.
Anyone know of a good tweeter mounting location? Where to get molded pillars like in this pic?

Best place to install the tweeters on the yaris from my entry level experience would be where the little plastic cover thingy is placed on the corner of glass. It's detachable and easy to work with.

The one in the picture is custom added to the existing pillar and recovered. I beleive that is eTiMaGo's interior as it looks like an F-14. It's fiberglassed and recovered in vinyl. Even if you didnot have the custom portion done, it is still a great location to mount tweeters. Most tweeters will include a directional mount to angle the sound. Having the abilty to pose the direction will allow you to achieve the same directional sound.

It really depends on what you want from the system.
We'll be seing my tweeter mounting over this year. I will be mounting the tweeters at a horizontal plane approximately an inch ABOVE the top level of the cluster. The aim of the tweeters will be into the glass about a degree maybe two. The speakers will be as far away from the listening position as possible (i.e.- as far forward on the a pillar as possible). This will keep the imaging level and expansive...like it should be.

uhhh...
okay. Aside from the fact that you'd be exposing the speakers to drastic changes in temperature, the soundstage would be skewed, and you might lose some response if the speakers are mounted IN the vents due to the tweeters being physically surrounded by the vent itself. I say go for it! You do it first. I'd like to hear it.

Not quite as fancy as your pic, but I stuck mine in the A-pillar also
(see pics) =- these tweets can be aimed/angled for optimal imaging. I am still playing with their position |

was the tweeter mounting location thread pre-hack? There were like 5+ different tweeter setups there...

pariahdecss....put my tweets there, too. What do you think of those Infinity Kappas? Found mine @ Fry's for just $140..."open box"! I was floored...huge improvement, although I think they can be alittle "brassy".

yup - I think I only paid around $160 myself, overall I am happy with them, but they can be overpowering/bright. They are huge and mounted at that level I had to cut them 6db or more. I am still working on tuning for my front components and my new system in general.
